So, I just had my first car/bike accident a few days ago... glad to get it out of the way early :D. Anyways, I've fixed the obvious problem (a broken turn signal) and took it for a satisfactory test drive but I'm wondering what hidden damage I might be looking for.

The accident occurred when I was taking a left turn from a stop sign and missed the car coming from my right. From what I've guessed from the cosmetic damage the car struck my front tire (possibly the front fork) and dropped the bike on it's right side.

If you feel like sharing I'd love to hear some stories of your first accidents, too.

DUDE!! Thank goodness you are alive!
I had a accident last week two right turns from my home. I saw a guy walking a big German Shepherd. The dog broke loose from his hand and ran head first into my right side forward peg and crash bar. The dog did a rolling down the road kind of thing. I did not go down but that part of the bike was bent a few different directions. I WAS MAD!!! I pulled over not even looking at the guy and his dog. Straightened it out a little and sped off back to my drive way. A few minutes later as I am accessing the damage he walks up with the dog asking me if I think the dog is ok. I walk over to him and can tell why the dog broke the leash from his hand. THE MAN WAS DRUNK OFF HIS BUTT.
I said yes your dog is fine. Yes your dog is fine. We never discussed the bike.
Anyways, a few days goes by and Im sitting on my couch with the front door open a little watching tv. I hear a dog SCREAMING like it had been run over. A lady was yelling HELP ME HELP ME!!!! I ran towards the ruckus to find the post man walking away from the ladies half picket fence gate and the dog I ran over had his paw wedged in between the wooden lathes.
He growled at me, but I don't hold a grudge. I love animals. I ripped the wooden lathes off the fence and he ran away barking inside her house.
Later that day I see drunk dude walking the dog again and he asks me... do you think my dog will be ok? LOL
By the way. The dog will be ok.
