Hi there, there actually was a factory fairing for these, it was huge. There was a damaged one on eBay about 2 months ago.

I have a very nice used Rifle fairing that I'm taking off my bike, black, very nice shape, with a shorty 12" windscreen. You can see this style fairing at:

    http://www.rifle.com/Motorcycle/Yamaha/ ... axim%20650)

It has the headlight insert for the stock round headlight. And it has most of the mounting hardware; some of the long mounting bars (mounted to the bike) I may keep for fitting another style fairing onto my bike. Rifle sells complete replacement hardware kits for these for $48; you may be able to talk them into selling you just a partial kit for less.

This is a very high quality fairing and is in very nice shape. A couple of very small scratches in the paint on the right side. VERY Small.

$170 + shipping, which will be expensive, as this is a big piece and has to go "oversize" via UPS or FedEx.

NOTE: although this is a fairly large fairing, it still is not as large as a factory fairing, which was simply huge and made the bike look like a whale coming down the road......

Back in the 80's I had a friend with an xj650 that had a Vetter fairing, Hard saddlebags and a rear box. It look like a small touring bike.

I have the Vetter fairing for a Maxim/Seca. I ran it on for the past 5 years but removed it when I chopped the bike. These were on alot of bikes years back and were great wind protection. Mine has a cigarette liter and radio on it. Look on Ebay. There are some around yet. The mounts are easy to make for your bike (I made mine just like the factory one) It makes the bike alot better (more stable) in the wind and the gas mileage actually is the same, because it cuts the wind better than your body does.
