cruising through CL while at school, I found this:

It's a 76 cb750, totally old school, guy wanted a harley, titled and i heard it run for a half a second, for 500 smacks! This is so old school, made by a company, obnoxious king queen seat sissy bar, guy started sanding it, hope i can save the paint... he may have taken the clear coat off.

    It has:

    Girder front end
    Drag pipes
    oil gauge
    mini drum front wheel
    horse shoe oil tank
valve cover was chromed, starting to bubble and peel

it has handle bars but they weigh 20 lbs and are hideous..

im so excited... especially since they still managed to keep the title..

though im a little bummed its a soft tail, though im pretty sure the swingarm is extended and chromed

You got to buy it and hardtail it and lose that seat. Love everything about old school choppers but those seats. Good luck sneaking that buy the parents.

I dont want to get rid of it, nor change it, except the paint job if its too far gone but i will still try to do something 70's.

as far as the parents... i may have to rent a mini storage unit for 5 years... seriously

I want to see it! Does anyone what config setting I have wrong? When pics are embedded directly into the text I can't see them. Photos that are part of a link to a photo hosting service like photobucket, no problem.

that rear suspension looks skeptical. I'd sell it and make a bundle...that thing is gonna be a handful to ride.

Schooter - how could you sell the GT then buy this?

Remember to tell your parents you are Trading bikes to help pay for your education - you have no intention of riding them!!!

i dunno markie, the gt just wasnt my thing... i was always worried when riding it because it was a 2 stroke.. you cant hold the gas at one place.. gotta keep it in the powerband.

and i also kinda thought it was a dog, i read al lthese post about how it could burn rubber and scare you... but it seems as tame as a 400 twin...

and i love these old chops and sohc's....

From that first picture there looks like there is enough meat to hide a Mono shock for an imitation hard tail, maybe have to beef up the pivot point where the swingarm bolts to the frame though, but not a lot of junk in the way if you had to.

I hope you're talking about the seller, the front end is worth what i paid for it, and as far as riding it, i'm skeptical about the mini drum front brake, and the rear end suspension, i think i may swap it to another frame... dunno yet, gotta get it home and running first

You are aiming high if you want it to look like chopperscrocket's chopper that would be sweet. Don't sell it you will kick yourself I would love to do a cb old school build. Life is all about building them that's the best part then you see something different you sell your last build to pay for your next build its the circle of life.

Silly me. And here I thought the best part about motorcyles was RIDING them, after they're built.

    Maybe not so much...

And that's why people modify them for hobbies as well, and collect them

Ride them in the summer sell it in the fall build a new one in the winter and repeat. There is no way I could ride the same bike for 30 years to many options to explore out there. Remember life is about trying new things it keeps you out of ruts.

You know I went over to TCU to look at his chopper and I came back here and I still spelled it like Schooter. Schooter post it on TCU they will love it and easier to talk about it over there.

runs good, man is this thing easy to work on! adjusting the valves on this takes 5 minutes, points are easy, cam chain is easy, carbs are super simple, i can see why people love this bike, and it has a sound to it that is very different than the xj... sounds meaner, though it may have a cam. I'm out of the parents house for the summer and it just so happens our neighbor went to my high school 2 years ahead of me, he's a body and paint guy, and i've been helping him with his cb550 build, and he said he'd paint my bike for cost of paint.. cool beans.

also, i've come to find out everything that's been painted silver on this bike is chrome, and good too, so i've got alot of stripping to do.. any opinions on color? I'm thinking a blue kind of like on the newish chevy trucks.

As far as remark about money vs sense, I dont understand, I paid 500 for it, the girder front end is worth that, not including the somewhat rare mini drum front wheel. it's obvious this is a clumsy bike, i wont be taking any sweepers at a high speed... but i guess it all comes down to personal taste... and no, I dont have so much money I dont know what to do with it...
