I was looking at my carbs and I saw this rod is wet ( Look at the pic )

A couple questions: What is the name of this rod?
    What is it for?
and why is it leaking gas?

I try to look for an squematic of the carbs but couldnt find anything.

do you guys have any idea?

That is your throttle shaft. Looks like you need new throttle shaft seals.

Yep, time to look at replace throttle shaft seals. If it is wet with gas there it also means possible float level problems. Mine collect dirt there after a few months but the seals don't leak enough to cause any problems. Spray some starter fluid on the shaft with the engine running and see if the RPMs change, if it does its time to replace. Check all of them at the same time.

Float level problmes. Not what I wanted to hear. I have been using every technique to get the right levels and I just dont get them right. That sucks!

Thanks for the advice. I will let you know what happen after a good cleanning and inspection.

I have the same problem on my seals.... it's a real pain in the nuts

I have the following question regarding float levels though:
When we set the float height to the washer on float bowl screw, is the fact that the floats are at an 7-8 degree angle taken into consideration?
It dawned on me the other day while I had the carbs out for routine inspection...

The spec is to set the float levels with the carbs held perfectly level. Yes, it takes into consideration the tilt that occurs once they are mounted on the bike.

Carvall, you missed the point. The fact that gas is leaking out of the throttle shaft seals means TWO things: You have a float level too high or a sticky float AND you need new throttle shaft seals.

There are a number of threads illustrating the "clear tube method" which is the only way to get the floats truly correct. Do a forum search.
