Best to give the bike specifics, model year etc. Do you want to remove all the gauges and lights?

80 xj 650 the only things I want are all the lights. I don't care about the nutral, oil, turn or highbeam light on the cluster.

If you want to make the cluster lights just "not work" you could just pull the bulbs. If you are going to remove the cluster lights you just have to unplug them from the harness.

I plan on removing the hole thing so I can get a lot cleaner look but I don't know how much of a pain it is yet. I'm looking for some good advice before I tear it down.

I'm looking for similar info on the same bike, I want to use an aftermarket tach and get rid of everything else. Could is be as simple as just unplugging it ?

    legal issues aside....

You'd need to plug the tach cable hole in the front of the head.

Open up your head light bucket and un plug it. Mine ran fine without gauges, different gauges and then a new set from a different 650.

If you want to replace it with something else it's fairly straight forward to graft the plugs from your old gauges onto your new and make the new set plug and play.

    700n/nc?
your tach is electronic it unplugs
you will need to add a fuse box or inline fuse holders because your fuses are in the box 17 and 18
only problem I see is how the directionals 18 and 23 hook up to ground 20 and 21 are indicator lights unbolt and unplug it is not an atari set up
