I bought this 82 750 from some guy in charlevoix for $450. He was going bankrupt and he said he couldnt sell anything for more then $500. I rode it around wallon lake yesterday and it ran great. My friend has a 82 magna 750 and this bike runs faster and smoother (and he payed a boatload more!).

Im thinking of chopping it up, but that seems like alot of work. Plus, I kinda like the way it feels and its in great shape. If anyones coming up north lets ride!

That's a perfectly good bike! Why would you even think of chopping it? But to each their own! Whatever you do with it you sure have a nice bike on your hands to start with! Best wishes. BTW ... where's up north?

Chop it, bob it, whatever ya want. Make it yours. Stock sucks. They aren't that rare so don't think you may have a collectors bike (unless you want to keep in storage for years and sell it when you get old...by then you won't need the money anyway) So make it yours and ride it like you stole it!!

If you're over 35, keep it like it is and enjoy it, otherwise you'll just look like an old guy who's trying to be cool, lol. If you're younger, have fun like PainterD said and do what you want and ride safe! :)

    Yes it does.

And masterlink you're not all that "up North," you're still in the lower.

Personally, I'm not a real big fan of the "cruiser" styled Yamahas but that is one gorgeous bike. All you have to do is "take it up a notch," and you'll have a 100-point bike on your hands. Personalize it sure; maybe change the handlebar (I always do) and modernize the turn signals, but don't cut it up. Properly recommission it and ride it!

Hey I was just looking at your pics closely; those may be the original tires. (Dunlop hasn't made the Qualifier since dirt was new.) If so, they gotta go, and now. DO NOT exceed about 60 mph or so until you get new tires, and don't wait. Tread remaining has nothing to do with it. These bikes use tubeless tires and 6 years is the max lifespan before it gets dangerous.

Check the date codes; do a forum search on "tire date codes." Don't take chances here.

Definately be careful with older tires. However if there is no cracking I personally would not change them. I have heard this old tire stuff and don't completely believe it. A tire's condition is not completely determined by how old it is IMO. I recently had an '82 Jimmy. In 2008 I used it's original spare (I owned this truck for 17 years) for a winter tire 2 seasons with no problems whatsoever. That tire had no cracks in it, was not exposed to the elements. By the way nice bike. great deal.
