Bought my 1982 XJ650 a few weeks ago and had high hopes of putting a kerker or supertrapp full 4 into 1 on it, but as far as I can tell they're no longer manufactured. The only part I can find is Mac 4 into 1 systems. Are these any good for performance? Or are they as I hear only OEM replacements? I'd prefer not to put a "megaphone" system on this bike but if that's all there is... HELP if you have any ideas...

ANY 4-1 is not an "OEM replacement" for your bike; it came with a 4-2 (w/crossover) from the factory.

Unfortunately, MAC is, I believe, the only manufacturer currently producing a system for your bike, at least here in the States.

That doesn't mean the Kerker or Supertrapp systems can't be found; but you'll have to troll eBay and be very careful about fitment.

Or, get a MAC and then replace their muffler with a Supertrapp or other "can" to your liking.

Hopefully you're from the states, and it'll be easier to get ahold of a MAC 4-1.

If you're from Canada, there was *2* ordered by the only Canadian distributor of MAC (MC Distributing in Stratford). Hopefully when I ordered mine it went to 3 and the other 2 who knows if they're spoken for.

1 Month wait time for them to get em from the US.

Yeah BigFitz you're right, I know 4 into 1 isn't Oem. But what i meant was, is the Mac going to sound like the stock system and actually muffle the bike. Right now I have the exhaust dumped out to either side like (gulp) a Harley but I'd like a nice can on there. I think I'll end up taking your advice on a new can. A nice Muzzy would sound pretty good :D
