Fixing my starter button

    Hey I just bought my first XJ last week (81 xj 650 )and im having issues with it starting.
    I can bump start it but when you press the starter button some times it clicks and doesn't start and and sometimes it doesn't even click.
    i'm hoping its just the battery. but if its not i'm lost

    Not very mechanically inclined, basic knowledge only so detailed answers would be appreciated.

    You need to clean up all the terminals, + & - on the battery, starter relay (solonoid), ground wires to frame & motor, check the battery is fully charged (12.6v)

    may have to pull apart and clean the starter button too, mine was buggered when i got it. not hard to do either.

    the button is going bad but the main culprit is the battery .. wont hold a charge =/

    changing plugs and whatnot this weekend as well.
