Was riding home today, and noticed my brake level warning on my 1982 750 Maxim dash was on. I checked the fluid level, and it was fine. I think the sensor in the master cylinder is working, because it moves up and down with the fluid. What else could cause this to come on suddenly? Could it be a connection behind the headlight? I don't really know.

Yes it could be. But try with a multimeter on the ohms scale and measure the reading with the wires from the sensor dismantled (it's an on/off thing). if thats ok go through the wires and see if something is broke.
