Hey, I have an 85 XJ700 and I want to strip the dashboard so the only thing on the front is the speedo. However, one of the fuse boxes is under the dash components. Can I just unplug everything and take it off? Or do I have to move all the electrical somewhere else?

Any help would be awesome, also if anyone has written up instructions on how to do this, just a link would be great. I just couldn't find one.

Do you have to have fuses? Nope. All the fuse does is protect the components and wires as long as everything works correctly you dont need a fuse. But if you have a short instead of blowing a fuse wires will melt, components fry and maybe catch fire.

You should put a 10amp inline fuse for the lowbeam and one for
    the highbeam.
That will protect the circuit from damage due to an overload.

My control switch shorted out over a year ago so I just ran two
independant leads off the batt to the back of the light plug.
It's already grounded so no need for more then the two pos wires.

Works perfect with no troubles-make sure you clean and die-electric
the contacts at the batt once in a while so no corrosion builds up.
