Have stripped the carbs and found one of the floats was stuck, I mean mega stuck, also the mixer screws (BRASS) 2 had no heads. Had the 2 drilled out and 2 others found also replaced the float which was stuck, not being a mechanic this did take a day soild to do.
I can also tell with the fact that a float stuck and 2 mixer screws with no heads there is no way that the guys who said they had stripped/tunned/cleaned the carbs could have been done properly if at all.

Anyway Friday (3-6-11) put all back together, hit the button and hey presto she stuggled then started then stopped.

Took each plug out and they were all clean but wet (petrol) they all sparked.

When I put back the mixer screws they were screwed right down then I unscrewed them 1 and a half turns each.

Has anyone got anymore things I could Try?

    Thanks all

Pilot Screws: 2-1/2 to 3 turns is the usual factory setting.
Float height: The float level measurements of 2.0 +/- 1mm, see pic and use #1 as the carburettor body measure point. Use the clear tube metod to do the measurement.
Float bowl: there is a tiny brass tube on the carb body going into a hole in the bowl. In that hole at the bottom there is a tiny hole going to the bottom af the bowl. clean them up and use compressed air. Oh yes it's a pain, but it should be absolutely clean - as the rest of jets, passages and ...
    Do the clunk test.

Check the valves and put new sims where it's needed.

    Sync the carbs

    Ahhhm! Could you repeat that?
Starter coil and ignition coil has nothing to do with each other!
Plug #1 and #4 use the same ignition coil and #2 and #3 the other.

thanks for the info, problem there are 2 of us who have no idea how to set the floats properly, even with the info given.
What you said about the starting problem makes sense as the carbs are full of petrol, plugs are wet and a spark. Seems that I have mucked up the floats when cleaning the carbs, and now need a real idiots guide to setting them up properly. Lookks like the carbs will have to come out agin, can't see another way of doing it.
Idiots version for sorting the floats please

    You could also try this:

    Setting fuel levels

As for the coils, this file might shed some light. I know you're not installing a new set, but there are a couple of pictures in there that illustrate what goes where as far as plug wires and connectors from the TCI.
