Ok I just bought a 1980 XJ650G and drove it for a good 2 hundred miles i wanted to clean the carbs on it and wen i got down there to take it off i found that one of the boots from the carb to the air box (IDK wut it called) wasnt fully attached. well i got that done took me a good hour to do it and stared her up and idled wonderfully untill i turned the throttle handle. then it started to idle to around 5k RPM's turned it off and then bak on and it went straight to 5k rpm's again straightened out the handle bars and it went to around 9 k rpm's. So my question is how do i adjust the throttle cable to loosen it up a little bit?? thanks so much :?:

idk if you have an aftermarket cable or not, see if there is an adjustment at the throttle where the cable goes in. if not, at the top of your carb where the cable bracket sits, GENTLY bend the tab down, this will give you a little slack in the cable. FIRST< try to back off your idle screw. Hold on a sec before you do any of that. When you say clean the carbs are you talking exterior wipe or interior clean, if you've had them apart i promise its something internal
