I just scored a used seat off e-bay. It's in really good shape. I was wondering if anyone could recommend something to put on it to preserve it. You know like armor-all but not armor-all. I think that would too slippery and maybe leave my pants looking like I need to be toilet trained.

Johnson's Paste wax. Mom used it on the dash of her 66 GTO for years, still looks new. Just be sure to apply it on a hot day and wipe/buff out the seat before you ride or you will go for a ride (and not the pleasant type either).

Good call on the armor-all. My brother bought an RD 350 new in 1975.
It was a quick bike for it's day, with Bassani expansion chambers added to enhance perfomance.
I used to detail this bike for my brother, and from time to time,he would give me a ride. I was only 14,and couldn't legally ride the bike on my own.
I recall one ride, shortly after an intense detailing session. My brother was waiting at a red light, and I was on the back, arms crossed and not paying attention...I heard the engine rev,but it was too late.My brother and the RD shot foward rapidly, leaving me in the intersection with a bruised bottom, and very little of my pride intact.
Armor-all on a flat seat is not a good idea.

Try it with spandex (very sordid tale, not worth repeating).

I think there are laws against people of my build wearing spandex, something about "cruel and unusual punishment". Anyone else have any seat stories to offer up?

I recall in '89 when I was stationed in S.C. - My wife thought she would do me a favor and clean up my bike. She Armour-All'ed the seat of my GS1100. Needless to say - when I rode it that afternoon and rolled back on the throttle - I was pretty much just hangin' behind the bike making suggestions on which way to go!!!!

ANYWAY - Eagle brand (that makes the "nano-wax") also makes a leather treatment. This stuff does a fantastic job at making the leather look new without making it slippery. Just spray it on, and wipe off then give a couple minutes to dry. I've been VERY pleased with the results of this stuff!! I tried it because it was on sale one time and that is all I use now. 8)
