Your bikes definitely have their own style, I remember the old teal/blue one that you had a while back. Very slick. :)

How is the rear swingarm suspended though? I don't see any struts or springs...

Looks good but how much will wou have to take apart to access the fuses, battery or to remove the rear tire?
    I do like the look.
Did you keep records of the carb jets and mods to make the pods work, share them with us.

all that hard work paid off. I know its all in the way you look at it but flat black. I would think a splash of color would show off the body work better. But thats just me

Orange, I will shoot a pic tonight of the new plate and light combo. A pair of LED stop/tail pods on a simple bracket mounted off the axle clamp bolt. Amazingly the turndowns are not too loud, seriously.

Zookie, uh oh, here we go. hahhah

Ravenz, pure awesomeness, Weird is always a comment I welcome!

Rusty, thats one of my loves, a sweeping rear fender and cleanly shaved of all obtrusive mounting tabs and holes! Thanks The fenders are both off of an 05 Vstar 1100 Classic, the front was skinnied by 1 5/8" (perfect fit, width wise) and the rear was shaved up and clocked downward about 35-40 degrees.

Joel, Thanks, it's been a while since the first one and it did have it's own attitude. Good question on the second part. I boxed the swing arm into a fixed position that got my seat to 24"...lowest I can legally have it by statute. I didn't want to weld in a new rear section. Right behind that fancy wheel curve is the boxed section.

mlew, It's about 45 seconds to take rear panel off. It's one piece of steel that is fiberglass reinforced. It was shaped to fit the frames original curves. Take the 2 nuts off the mounting bolts on the side and you have the unit off...super easy and simple. As for the carbs, the bike rode strong and idled well when it was fully stock and it does the exact same now with the open pipes and pods. So it doesn't have a perfect stoichiometric ratio, but it doesnt smell like a junker and it's not so lean to white out my plugs. Im happy.

cutlass, you know I think Im going to shoot a color....im soooo tempted to blast it in a nice matte pearl red or blue....still undecided. I plan to sell, but if I cant get a fair price I will paint it one of those 2 colors.

Polock, funny you say that. I had a neighbor stop by and ask me if I "worked" on Harleys and I told him "Hell no, I don't touch those things", with a lil chuckle...you should have seen his face, lmao!! I told him my whole bike cost less than a 300 series tire, haha.

I like the side molding. What ideas do you have for the seat? I thought about doing mine with a simular rear fender with a 40 Ford tail light, you know the double chevrons. 8)

The seat will be a neoprene or synthetic rubber padding, it's like 1/2" thick and it's going to just take the edge off the ride. It is meant to keep you awake and attentive, not all puffy and comfortable, lol!

I would have loved to implement a few other ideas but the budget did not allow for excess spending on wants, I had to make due with what I had. Boy a few more hundred and I could have done some fun stuff, hahaa.

Kinda hard to get good night pics with a point and click, but you get the jist of it here.

After reading up on all the rule and regulation of motor vehicles and motorcycles themselves, I got the plate mounted legally (horizontally) and it is 12" off the ground exactly (legal max), the seat pan is 24.5" above ground as well (24" legal). After all those considerations It is now Legal!

Nice lookin' ride, those rear fender lines flow well with the tank. Hard tail and 1/2'' pad would kill my back though. I was watching American Chopper once and they had a bobber style seat with short springs in the seat. Don't know where you could find those or how much they would cost. I'd at least put a jel pad on there but its your a** and not mine. LOL

    AlbuquerqueChoppers - SUHWEET bike!

How did you build the fiberglass skins/body? How did you attach the new fiberglass skins to the metal fenders etc... ?

What can you tell us about those headlights? Any problem running them with our old systems?

aharon, I believe once you register you will be able to see them. From what I read imageshack needs some users to register to access their files due to certain restrictions. I think they are the problem, let me see if I can find another host that doesn't pull that junk.

    andy, Thanks!

schooter, no alternative heating needed. hahaha

Snow, Thank You. The body is fairly straight forward. I put the fender on the frame, in position, I then beat down the end of the fender to match the frames curves (using the frame as a body block), from there I used a fairly heavy gauge of sheet metal , cut it and folded it at seat frame section and connected the fender (I think I got some pics of that step) I then slapped a layer of fiberglass sheet for some strength after all that was leveled evenly.
My last bike I did not make a mold of, I just might make one this time...as this is kind of a pain in the keyster to keep fabricating from scratch and sourcing good fenders for cheap is tough.

metal_Bob, Thanks, the lines are always a biggie for me. Regarding the lights, they're just a pair of run of the mill off road style driving lamps, nice and bright, nice and inexpensive as well ($40). With the lack of incandescent bulbs (led tails and stops)and no other drain, my battery still gets a charge with lights fully on and my fuses stay linked. I can't complain.

Oh no! That modified bike is a blatant disrespect for your fellow motorists. And my gosh, does that thing look dangerous and loud. Guess it's a good thing you put pods on there so it will never run.

Seriously, damned nice looking scoot. Good job.

It is so dangerous that canyons open up right in front of it.....it is so disrespectful it punches old ladies in their sleep and it is sooooo loud that you can almost hear it in a pack of Harleys.

    I love the supersize sarcasm!

Thanks on the shout out, it's just as fun to drive as it looks.... Actually it drives a lot more tame than it looks.

compress, for sure...hopefully I don't sell it before I can show it off, hahaha.

macros, for real right. The last bike was named the batman bike by the forum and this one has slid right thru. Im hoping this one take the "Stealth Maxim" label. I did design the bars to sweep like the bombers profile. Thanks, I do get quite a bit of rubber neckin', funny part is that most don't want to believe it's an 80's Yamaha, lmao!

You're going to need a Swan silhouette laser-cut into the faring behind the Clutch Case.

I think you have to contact: Chix Magnit Co.

Street, I am going to make a mold of this unit since it came out so clean on all the lines, if I can be of any use, it will be later this fall. I will have a legit plug and mold setup. Otherwise it would be pricey to redo this setup from hand...but for the right price I might entertain a metal replica. :D

Ric, I actually have a pinstriper making me a darker/Von Dutch style replica of this drawing, he should have it drawn by monday so I can OK it for printing. Im stoked... :)

I may have a buyer so all my personal touches are on hold until I square away the business end of the project. I think of it as mobile art and all I make sure is that my signature stays on the bike and I have enough paper to get another, plus some spare change, heheh.

I did decide I am going to use some 1" gel pad and make me a seat....after putting 60 miles Saturday on good ole' Rt.66 I decided I need to take the "edge" off, lmao. When I weighed 210 it was soft on the old bike, now at 180...NOT so soft anymore, hahah!

    Thanks guys!

Those tips are from auto zone< standard turn downs for like $6/each. They are about 3/4" too big but if you cut a slit and collapse the back they fit just right. 8)

That's awesome!! That was my first bike I built, I will contact him and give him some info on it. It is amazing how things get around on the net, I always freak out about that.

That was like 3 years ago or so, this version is much nicer in Vstar fender instead of Harley Road King fits.
