I see there has been several posts about handlebars. The technical stuff isn't a concern for me as far as changing them out.

Here is my question. I have an 82 750 Seca. I like the way it rides except for one thing, the handlebars seem a little to close to me. Escpecially when carrying a passenger.

I have thought about the clubman bars and the drag bars but i want something sportier but not be terribly uncomfortable. I would like to lean forward a little more to get behind my windscreen but not so much that it is uncomfortable, especially when carrying a passenger.

This bike is the only one i have ever ridden so I am a little gun shy to start swapping the bars out and kill what I have. I am say 85% happy with the ride, just want a little sportier without going crazy.

Just looking for feedback as to what others have found and liked and didn't like.

    Does that make sense?

    Thats exactally what I wanted.

The clubman's wouldn't work on my 750max due to the tank width, nor would drag bars.

I went with a european style bend.

Best picture of it I have. They're just as comfortable sitting up or crouched behind my windscreen.

That looks pretty good. I like the grips as well. Definitely better than what i have currently considering the factory plastic covers bit the dirt right off.

I am glad you posted that picture because it made me realize that i have to be careful with what i get and keep my windscreen as it mounts to the bars.

Those grips are alright, the foams at least 10+ years old though. I'm sure they were quite nice in their prime. Replacing them next week.

The only problem I have with these is the master cylander sitting at the wrong angle. I'm looking for one from a 650 seca to replace it.

The control is much more agressive and I love it! Whipping around corners feels much more stable.

Those Euro bars are pretty close to what the Seca has already though. The drag bars would be a small step towards the right direction, and then the clubmans are the more extreme option. I'd go ahead and get a set of drag bars first, and if you need more, then get the clubmans! They're only about $20 anyway, and you could always resell the used drag bars if you don't like them. You'll get at least half of your money back. Not bad considering the cost of a lot of things on these bikes!

I would agree with Joel07 and get the drag bars. You can either set them up so they have a little pull back or turn them down so they drop a little. I have drag bars turned down on my Seca and they give a nice sporty feel. If you're windscreen mounts to the bars, things might get kinda crowded. You might be able to get something that mounts to the headlight bracket if it looks like it can't all work together. That's what I have happening with my fairing. Check out the pics in my gallery. Good luck.

I will try to get a picture on of it but what I did was put a short bar in the original risers then put another set of risers attached to the smaller bar and attached a set of drag bars to that, it gives me clearance for the tank and I can really adjust the bars to fit my ride comfort

st301gpman.. let me know what you end up with. I would also like to get a more aggressive feel out of my '81 Seca, but not sure what to do yet. Fill us in on what you do. Thanks!

st301gpman - Did you ever swap those handle bars? If so, what did you end up going with and do you have any pics of it? Thanks.

Well finally after months of sitting idle, mainly due to lack of funds I have finally broke down and spent some money on the seca.

I am almost finished with the paint, I installed new intake manifolds, and I am waiting on a new fuel valve.

I thought i would go ahead and post as I also made a decision on handlebars.
I went with the bikemaster superbike bar. It looks really good. I need to get a shorter brake cable yet and once i do i will post some pictures so you can see it.
