Just thinking about the front and rear disc calipers and brakes on my XJ. Has anyone ever swapped out the OEM front and rear with something like Brembo or similar quality? I would think it would be a great improvement/mod and wondering if not, why? Thanks

put stainless lines on it then try it out then decide if you really want to spend that kind of money on new calipers and adapters
it sure would be fancy though

Never thought about changing calipers. I agree with Polock, spend the money on new pads and upgrade to stainless brake lines .Rebuild the master cylinder and calipers. My XJ1100 has been upgraded, I don't think it can get much better. I would look cool to have Brembo calipers.

I didn't think they had anything for our old bikes. I suppose with some mods you could get something to work. I would agree with Polock stainless lines and MC rebuild first and see how that works.

Oh yeah, I just put a set on my Honda CT70 custom bike and they are amazing. I agree, I will first replace and install as mentioned the stainless lines and new pads and rotor, then decide. I love Brembo stuff and thought the four (4) pot crab calipers would look awesome.

My touring bike has dual Brembo discs in front and one in the back. It has servo (power) assist with ABS. I run EBC scintered pads. These brakes are scary effective. They haul 900 lbs of bike plus my tubby carcass to a standstill in a heartbeat. I will not ride the lead position when riding in a group instead taking up the rear where I'm less likely to get rear ended.

This winter I will replace the rock hard brake lines on my XJ. Has anybody had new lines made up at a local hose supply store? It would be quick and convenient to have them made locally. I had a local company build a set of tilt hoses for my MerCruiser outdrive. Cheaper than ordering and had them in 3 hours.

might be a tight fit for the four pots on the front. at least on my 750 there is no room for pots between the wheel and rotor. dunno about the 1100

Here are pics of the Brembo calipers and the custom CT70. I think the gold caliper ones would look and work fantastic on a XS or XJ1100, what do you think?

No HID's, light kit, or NOS. Missing the new fender, but it's in route from Japan as we speak. A light kit would be cool. The paint has 7 different colors as the sun hits it at different directions. Now if I can get my XJ to look this good. LOL

Jamie - I am currently trying to mount a brembo 4 pot caliper onto my after market forks on my ct70 and I noticed that you did this (from the pics above). Any chance I could trouble you for some pictures of your mount setup? Are those NSR forks?

    I would really appreciate it.

Depending on what forks and wheels you have there are some options.

XJ750P forks ans wheels, R1 brakes and discs.

Was the adapter a purchase, or did you fab them yourself?
    Love the look..
Wamaxim, Wester Motorsports in Langley or Imperial mototcycles in Burnaby can do you lines. Just had mine done at Imperial and they ran around $110 give or take few.

Didn't need to make up the adapters, got them made by a member on here (ootfab??).

Not only do these brakes have great feel, I have changed the clutch perch as well that has opened up my choices of any aftermarket levers that fir an R1 including some nice shorty levers.
