    Another seat question please.

    Is mounting a XJ650 Maxim seat on a XJ550 Maxim a bolt-on affair? My 550 has a storage box behind the seat and the 650 doesn't. Otherwise the rear fender, grab bar, tail light, etc. all look the same.

    Thanks!

    I don't believe so. your best bet is probably to have the foam cut and custom wrapped.

    I think you missed my point in answering your other thread;

    The 550s are a different breed. The 550 Maxim frame has nothing in common with the 550 Seca NOR with any of the bigger bikes; you can get pretty much anything to fit anything if you want to modify or cut; but as far as a direct bolt-on it's not going to happen.

    The Radian used the 550 Maxim frame; a seat from a Radian might bolt-up OK, but I don't know about the rest of the ancillary stuff.

    SEAT REMEDY: http://www.sargentcycle.com/custserv.htm They do excellent work and don't charge an arm and a leg; and they can do pretty much anything you want. I've had two seats done by them so far; excellent workmanship and very reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

    I sewed a new seat cover together myself. Got some marine vinyl for the fabric store and used the old one as a template. I was surprised it worked LOL

    my buddies radian seat has a height front on it to match up to the tall square back end of the tank so I don't think it will match up very well with the 550 maxim
