I know its not a Yami but here is my new ride.
This was sold to me as a non runner. (I stole it pretty much).
The guy said when he parked it it was leaking gas and would not start but, he did not investigate any further.
A year later he posts on CL a 1993 Honda CBR 1000 F. I trailer her home hoping to break even on my investment. (we all know PO are usually full of @&@%). I get the battery charging (he showed me the thing was dead). I checked the dip stick its clean oil. After a little charging I check the dash lights and blinkers... all systems ago on electrical (score!!!). I try to turn it over... bingo the engine is cranking slow but the battery charger has only been on for a few minutes. I run some errands and come back and wheel it outside and hook up some jumper cables to the car and the bike. It cranks like a champ but nothing to get excited about. After some choking and cranking it fires... there is life!!! I had it idling on the old syrupy gas that it came with but not much else happened when i hit the accelerator.
I drain the gas... put in some premium and it fires right up and revs like a champ.
I have a video of the current issue (why it was dumping gas on the PO).
Im guessing there are O-rings gone bad in my vid... check it out.

    ON the trailer.

My movies are HD but uploading to photobucket is screwing up the vids.

I think the sound is ok.

Solid grab, sounds like every bike repairman's dream. How much did you pick it up for if you don't mind me asking?

Or not. PO might have been barking up the wrong tree; you may simply have a stuck float and that's where the overflow appears to be coming from.

Remember, Bill, the bike is still 18 years old. It's going to need ALL the same "recommissioning" as any 28-year old XJ.

It has CV carbs; you already know what that means (clean, "clunk," float levels and sync.)

It has adjustable valves; luckily not shims, they're screw-type adjusters but they're NOT hydraulic, which means they need to be adjusted.

Plus now, you've joined the ranks of the "chain driven."

How many miles on the bike? The same checklist applies that applied to your XJ. On the upside, it appears as though Honda still offers every single part for the bike.

Better start looking for a service manual. It's not going to be a "turnkey" proposition, just because it's a Honda. They get old, too.
