So I just did my clutches on my 93 xj600

Piece of cake really. Not having to rotate the steels made it easy. My question is, "IS there a break in procedure or time span" I should be aware of. Granted I'm not going straight out and putting down my best time on the track, but I did want to break them in slowly if that makes sense to get the longest life I can.

    Thanks

    Koi

Not really; I wouldn't beat on it super hard until you've got a couple hundred miles on it, but it's not really a concern.

You did use new springs, right?

Yup, new springs, new steels and I did a quick 3 point check with a feeler gauge to check for warping, even soaked my frictions, :p

Hmmmm, this is different.... Took me 3 tries to get the clutch lever properly alligned so that the cable would install correctly.

you did it the right way just dont slip the heck out of it and drive like a normal human for a short while just so the friction plates wear completely flat against the steel plates last thing you want is it to get super hot and glaze everything

Nice job! I would do as cutlass states; drive it sane for like 100 miles with some gradual hard pulls with the clutch fully engaged. Just don't drop the clutch at 5K. Clutches are engine brakes.

I just lubed my clutch cable yesterday with a funnel, electrical tape and 10w-30. And at the same time, did another readjustment to the clutch. Amazing difference. Actually can pull the front wheel off the ground now.

Thats wot I was pretty much going to do, do a easy cruise up and down the Napa valley, 75 miles no more then 50 mph due to traffic, general increases and decreases in speed and just trying to be smooth on the shift, probably no more then 6-7k on the rpm throughout for the first ride or two

Which is why I recommend removing the little lever; turning the throwout shaft CCW until it stops, then reinstalling the lever rather than removing/reinstalling the cover hoping to get it "indexed."

Hahaha, I am sorry, I failed to see your recommendations in the annotations. I figured it out and did it without screwing up my gasket!!!
