Hello , I'm a new member , I live in the U.K. and have recently bought myself a 1985 Yamaha XJ750 Maxim-X , which i was told had been imported from Canada a few years ago , I wanna make a couple of changes to , nothing major just need to lower and raise the bike here and there . I don't have any real knowledge of bikes but hoping that will change . I've noticed that the rear springs on this bike look like they are adjustable , what i wanted to know is Would I need a special tool to put them on lower setting or just use brute force to get them to lower , any help would be much appreciated .

A cut off screwdriver usually does the trick. Get one as stiff as possible and just fits in the hole. Cut off the head of it so it is literally just a rod and then crank away (on center stand).
