    Hey all,

I'm relatively new to motorcycles, though my dad has been on them for over 20 years. I currently have a 1982 XJ550 Maxim, that's a bit worse for the wear.

My dad and I have discussed replacing the turn signals, fenders, speedocluster and such with a Seca model's.

We've recently found a 1982 Seca 400 that is being parted out for a good price nearby... would the parts be compatible to be bolted on my 550?

    Parts in question:

    Front Fender
    Rear Fender
    Speedo/Tach
    Turn Signals
    Front Fairing

I appreciate any help you guys give! Thanks a heap!

    Turn signals will work fine

Not sure if the fender mounts are the same, but very well may be...

Speedo and tach should work as long as the 550 uses mechanical tach ( which I think they do)

Front fairing, probably a generic one and should fit, Seca 400 was a naked bike and came with just a square headlight

Most of those parts will fit on my Max :)

dont believe the fender will be a direct bolt on the 400 has smaller forks and should be closer together. Direct interchange 550maxim and 650 maxim take the same front fender others might fit but not the same part number . I believe the same on the fairing unless its a universal fairing. The rear fender only shows fitting the 550 and a 500 virago . All these things are going by the yamaha parts interchange its best to take measurements and compare.

Front and rear fender will not work as straight bolt on. Wiring connections may also cause problems in a cluster swap. Connections may be different. Turn signals are an easy swap. The fairing would need to have a round headlight opening to work but mounting brackets could also cause you some headaches.
