    Hi forums again!

I'm in the process of restoring my 82 xj650 to stock. It was almost finished till it left me stranded on the freeway in Vegas last week.

Basically what happened was I was crusing at about 75-80mph. I could feel a little loss of power every few seconds. Kind of like a slight pull on the bike. I hit some traffic, down shifted to 3rd. Bike started back fireing pretty bad and started running really rough. I tried to rev the problem away but it wouldn't rev easly. Once traffice slowed to a stop and the RPM's hit 1000 it died and wouldn't restart. I pulled over and checked out the obvious (gas, loose wires, spark) cylinder 1 looked like it had no spark, but power I got shocked a few times. After I got it back home I checked the plugs, all have spark when it's cold.

It died again yesterday and I check the temp of the CDI and Regulator and both were cold to the touch.

I'm not sure if this is an issue with the coil, CDI box, pickup or what...

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!!

Next time it stops running, try opening the gas cap. If you hear air rushing in, the vent in the cap could be pluged.

I figured it out. The pickup coil was so corroded a fair ammount fell out when I took the cap off. Got a replacement from e-bay and the past 800 miles have been worry free.

So I finally finished off this bike a few months ago and have been loving riding it around town. Thought it was time to post some pictures of it here. So enjoy :)

One more thing, this is what it looked like when I bought it for $150.

Just an FYI, you can still get the tank badges; chacal carries them and they're not super expensive.
