Not familiar with that particular bike, but in general.... very carefully..... unhook wires, negative first. Be sure battery is clear and lift streight up. Be sure to wear heavy gloves, and DON'T touch the terminals!

    Remove rubber strap.

Why does it matter which battery lead is taken off first? Also when you do decide to put the battery back on hit it up with a little lithium grease on the terminals keeps away moisture, is good under high temps, and hey, who doesn't like a little lube now and then?

If you undo the negative first, and knick the frame with your wrench or screw driver, you won't get a spark because that terminal is already connected to the frame.

Once the battery isn't grounded, if you knick the frame when undoing the positive terminal, you aren't completing a circuit to the negative terminal of the battery and making a big spark

Good thing I'm not an electrician...or a mechanic for that matter. I'll remember that next time.

Lithium grease may not be the best product to put on the terminals. I was always in favour of keeping the terminals of batteries clean and dry, not using anything on them. As times changed I became a fan of coating the surfaces with dielectric grease before assembly. This coats all surfaces, keeps air (oxygen) away from the lead preventing oxidation of the surfaces, and repels moisture, while still allowing free flow of current. A little goes a long way and it tends not to run in hot environments.
