Original owner of a 83XJR 750 - I have battery warning on display each time i start it. This started to happen when I replaced the old battery with a new one, never before had such issues. I have no problem starting or any riding issues, but recently the horn is very weak and the turn signals fail at high RPM go back on when i slow downand the annoying warning even though I can cancel it temporarily. Were should I start?

    thanks in advance

Did you put the correct "rating" of battery in it? It sounds to me like your regulator/rectifier is "confused" now.

    Alternator Brushes.

Classic symptoms Alternator Brushes needing to be replaced.

    Measure the Brushes.

Dymek5 the battery indicator is just a fluid level indicator. Did you replace the old level sensor with a new one when you installed new battery? Slow turn signals could be your battery connections are not tight or you do not have a fully charged battery. Did you follow the manufacturers steps when filling and doing the initial charge?

    Waldo,

The battery seems fine to my knowledge because it's turning over with no issues at starting the bike. But I might be low on fluid, will check. Also the Horn is almost non existent so it's back to the battery or connections right?

    Rick,

How do I check the brushes?

    thanks guys
