I am getting closer to finishing my xj bobber. I finished the hand hammered seat as well as mounted the lights and the clip-on bars. I have to button up the electrical, but got it figured out thanks to dwcopple.

I still have to paint the bike and pick out a rear fender, but I am getting closer.

Seat was hammered out of 12 guage steel with a three pound hammer in the yard. And 110 holes drilled to lace the leather. It was a lot of work but I am very happy with the seat.

    I want your headlights....

Did you extend the swing arm or does it just look longer because it has been chopped?

The bike just looks longer due to the fact that it was substantialy lowered in the rear and the front was lowered 2 inches. No stretch, couldn't afford a newly engineered drive shaft. :) And as far as the lights go they are from wal-mart and I mounted them up side down thru the hole that was left when I removed the guage cluster.

    ah so single brightness lights?

I would love to do dominator lights at some point, maybe the next project will have them.

"110 holes" lots of work. It was worth it. If I can ever get to that point (sob), I'm thinking about rivets. REALLY like that tank on there...

Skillet--- I got the tank off of ebay and it did turn out great I still have to fill in the old petcock hole and move it to the very bottom of the tank.

Loudjosh81--- The plan is to have the headers ran 2 into one on each side. So the pipes will come out and run the pipe along the lower frame rail on each side because the bike is too low to run it underneath. Should be very loud I am hoping.

Thanks for the positive feedback, I will be mounting the carbs and headers this week, time permitting. I am happy witht the build I like to be different and I like the direction this bike is going. The one thing that I have not envisioned yet is the battery box. Any Ideas? I thought about maybe a paint thinner can, don't know yet.

I dont personally care for the dual headlights, but overall it looks good!

Go to a military surplus store and be creative. I grabbed .30 caliber ammo can for my xj550s battery & electronics, welded 2 pieces of 1/2 angle across the frame rails where the battery/airbox used to be and they make a shelf that the ammo can slides into.

My buddy found a small canvas over the shoulder (binocular?) bag with leather straps that fits his battery perfectly and hangs between the framerails under his seat on his xs400.
