    Hi guys, I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. Just thought I'd introduce myself along with this topic.

    I'm a 27 year old guy from Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. I'm an Industrial Rescuer and a Volunteer Firefighter. I just bought a 1983 750XJ Maxim about two months ago and this is my first bike. It needed a bit of work and I finally got it on the road this past week thanks to a 1983 750XJ Seca parts bike. I knew nothing about bikes and thanks to the Haynes manual and topics posted on this site I was able to do all the work myself with the help of a knowledgeable friend. So thanks to all of you who have troubleshooted on this site in the past.

    I have been riding my Maxim for about a week now and must say that I've quickly become addicted to riding. I never knew how powerful of an experience it can be to cruise on a motorcycle. I'm also humbled by how friendly other riders on the road are no matter what bike you ride.

    My question to you all is what tunes get you pumped to ride your bike? I'm into heavy music and a few I can name right now are;

    "This Calling" by All that Remains
    "Confined" by As I Lay Dying
    "Warrior" by Disturbed

    Anything that rocks! Lately I've been listening to a lot of Black Label Society, my wife thinks I'm crazy to be listening to this. But I've been hard rockin' since (69). :twisted:

    Welcome Vampirum! Good first post.
    For me: Journey tends to make me go faster than I should, and still can't figure out why I don't sound as good as Steve Perry singing inside my helmet?!

    Dang, the kids gots some good music there....

    I'm definitely old school....how about Iron Butterfly, AC-DC, Alice Cooper, ...I guess it really depends on the road and my attitude....I have different tastes for different conditions.....sometimes, on a dark road, in the middle of no where....some Grand Funk Railroad- I'm your Captain is perfect..........

    Some great music listed above!!

    I feel old....... I like to listen to music in a very narrow range of genres, I love the 70's music including Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, etc. I really enjoy Burton Cummings so all of The Guess Who is in as well as some of hi later solo stuff. Here's where I really date myself. I love songs that tell stories so one of my favorites is Harry Chapin. He was posthumously awarded the Gold Medal of Freedom by the US Congress for his philanthropic work. Good guy, gone way too soon. If anyone tells anyone about this next type of music I will deny it. I enjoy Broadway Musicals such as the Phantom of the Opera, Evita, and Les Miserables. Wonderful stuff for the long hauls. Sometimes I get tired of the tunes and enjoy one of the nearly 200 audio books I have picked up over the years from Audible.com. My favorites are Lonesome Dove and 1776. Wonderful way to spend the hours.

    As for how I listen to it. If I am in town I have my tunes loaded in a 6 stack and listen to i through the audio system. If I'm going to be on the road for an hour or more I will listen through my iPhone via my Cardo Scala intercom system with molded ear phones. I cut the cheap A$$ helmet speakers out of the system and replaced them with a female 3.5mm stereo jack. Any standard ear buds can be used. I carry a spare brand new set with me all the time for when I have a passenger who doesn't have a set of buds with them. The volume can be quite low because there is NO wind noise. Since the volume is low I hear cars pulling up behind and beside me with no problems.

    This has proven a very comfortable and relaxing way to ride.

    YMMV
