    hey all,

Long time board member in the past as a reader never had a reason to post but recently I picked up an 82 xj650 maxim in really good condition. The only real issue is the exhaust, they removed the baffles out of the exhaust and it sounds like crap in my opinion, but the rest of it is in great condition...

So, do I just adjust the carbs to accommodate the the lower back pressure, or replace the cans? or is there a fix I can do to the cans to bring them back to stock?

Thanks for your advise in advance.

You can get baffles that will deaden the sound...or you can get new cans off ebay, or you can do plug chops to see if the carbs are really running lean. Or you can buy all new for a few hundred bucks.
