Hey guys! SO i got the ignition problem fixed and now moving on the the next issue... This one is kinda stupid... My turn signals wont blink. :-( I replaced the stock signals with aftermarket low-profile models.. The bulbs in the new signals are much smaller than the stock so I am assuming that their electrical requirements are much lower which is why they wont work... Would I need to use an Electronic Flasher to opperate these little guys?!? I am sure some of you have had the same issue... Thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look up on the screen....in the middle...I'll help you out.

    SEARCH

click that... type "LED turn signals"

no need to start a new thread on this one.

    RE: your other thread....

Although there is nothing intrinsically wrong with fixing up a bike just to sell it...how would you feel if someone sold you a machine that could easily kill you, but then took away basic safety measures such as good, bright turn signals and kickstand switches?

Besides, if there were a profit to be had in these bikes I and many others would be buying up and restoring bunches of them. Unless you get one for $300 and sell it at $2000, you are very likely going to be spending more than you make.

Of course, if that's not your goal, I apologize, and wish you the best, and encourage you to check out your rear brakes for delamination before you go ride it. Same search, just for "delamination".

Got it all fixed up. Found a flasher relay by Tridon Part Number EL13. Direct plug in on current harness, just had to switch the wires around. Signals are working perfect. Thanks!

Yeah, except the self cancelling feature is now gone, and your resale value just went down a little bit more.

Uh - didn't he offer to email you a wiring diagram in one of your other 'help' posts? Seems a little harsh to be calling him names just because he might have made a comment you didn't like. He sure helped me out a bunch of times when I had questions.

Him offering to send something that he never did doesnt give him the right to badmouth almost every post I make. He can keep his help and diagrams. I can figure it out on my own.

    Rickinduncan, thanks.

Dude, I don't quite know what your problem is; I said PM with an email address and I could send you a diagram. No PM, no diagram.

And this is the first time I'VE mentioned the "mods" you're making to the bike. day7a1 has been on your case about removing the safety devices then selling the bike; not me. That was my first mention of it. (Although I agree.)

Read your own threads; all I've done up until now is try to help. I won't make THAT mistake again. Ya on ya own.

I agree with Fitz. He has always tried to help anyone he can and has helped me out more than once and I thank him for all of his knowledge he contributes to this site. Perhaps you were just frustrated with your mods you are doing to your bike.

hes helping you fix it to the way yahama had designed the bike to perform and to there safety standards, That is why they call them mods. as like any other mods, there at your own risk, but for the safety of other rides (including yourself), keeping original is better then eliminating satefy features.

    but again, its your choice.

My turn signal issue is that the signals will not stay on at all unless I am holding the switch in that direction. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

That would be a bad switch. You may be able to open it up and clean and fix it, or you may need to find a replacement.

Internally, XJ switches are really two switches: one is a momentary that contacts when you push left or right in order to reset the cancel circuit; the other is non-momentary - it makes contact between the flasher and the selected left or right side turn signals; the non-momentatry switch gets shut off when you push the lever in. Your non-momentary is not latching like it should.

Thank you. It has actually worked properly twice, so hopefully that is indicative that it is a switch that can still be saved.
