Does anyone know how to remove the ignition lock cylinder from the housing? I know on older cars you turn the lock to the acc position and then depress a pin that aligns with a hole in the housing. There doesn't appear to be a pin at any position under the hole on this assembly.

My manual is 100 KM away and not accessible.

I'm pretty sure the last slider in the barrel locks the barrel in place. So you'll have to access that from the underside after pulling the rest of the assembly apart.

I'm also pretty sure you can't slide it out with the key in, as the key tip holds that slider in position.

    Good luck.

there are two screws on the back of the ignition switch. after you unscrew those it should just come off. you CAN pull it off with thekeys in btw.

Lucky I prefaced my answers with 'pretty sure'!

I've pulled 2 ignition locks, 1 tank cap lock and 1 seat lock to 're-key' them and for the life of me I couldn't remember the exact way the barrel comes out on any of them. lol

Too many beers... guess I'm lucky any of my locks work at all!

Actually, you WANT to pull the cylinder out with the key in, otherwise you will have little parts and springs flying about and they are a PITA to find and get back in the right way. Make sure you are squeezing the lock plates and springs in place when you remove the key.

Just to let you know it worked out fine. Switched the cylinder from my broken assembly to one I obtained that had no key. Now the bike has only one key (the original) for the ignition, trunk, and helmet lock.

Good to hear JF, worst thing about the ignition is keeping the contact plates in while trying to install it back on the bike. But only if you leave the housing on the bike like some bald-headed moron did LOL
