Po, you talking about Mid-Ohio AMA Vintage days? I like jazz but come the third week of July, I'll be on my blue Vstrom 1000 riding out to Ohio from Annapolis for the weekend. The turbo rally I want to attend in PA is the second week. I missed last year but rode out the year before and camped onsite and had a blast despite the torrential downpours early Sunday. I enjoyed climbing up to the second floors of the pit/garage buildings and watching the racers, and walking around and bs'ing with the vendors at the swapmeet part. The best part was the people I met....it was my first trip out and I decided then, to go back.

I have been going to vintage bike days for the last 8 years, and I always love it. I rarely ever see any XJ's anywhere, mainly just parts bikes at the swap meet. The turbo always draws attention from the few who remember, and odd looks from the others. I even got to attend and be part of the 2009 AMA vintage parade and show they had, and got to run 2 laps around the track with about 40 other fine vintage machines (including all the factory turbos and a nice 79 Z-1 turbo) I really wanted to open her up pulling out of a few corners, but never made it out of 3rd gear :)

I almost tried to register my 75 GT550 for the 09 parade but then decided that I didn't want to ride a newly built, ported bike the 450 miles out there so I rode my blue Vstrom1000 out.

I didn't see the parade as I pulled into the camp area around 10:30am but you're lucky to have been able to go 8 yrs running. I've kicked around the idea of taking the turbo out this year since I recently completed it but that V is so reliable and I've got it setup for distance riding so it's comfy on longer rides that it's hard to make myself suffer by riding something else for anything more then 100 miles. I do want to ride it up for the turbo rally in July though and I think the AMA vintage days is the following weekend.

I'll be at Midohio on something though, just haven't figured out what. The turbo wouldn't be too bad if I was 5' tall but combine 6' with bad knees and a short seat to peg distance and it get uncomfortable pretty fast.

It's at Lexington Ohio at the Mid-Ohio track. It's a huge setup that takes hundreds of acres with a huge swapmeet, onsite tent and caper camping, the race course with vintage racing, new bike test rides, food out the wazoo and it's cheap!!

I've NEVER met anyone who did not enjoy it!
