I have read the various threads around here as well as my owners manual and Haynes, and each of them claims I should grease the splines when reinstalling my rear wheel. Is there a particular type that I should be using?

The bigger bikes specify molybdenum disulphide grease. I use molly grease on the splines of everything I service.
