I need an oil cooler for a XJ900 1983. Or what other bikes used this part.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks,

according to the xjcd, the adapter plate was used on several different bikes, but the cooler itself, and the hoses going to it are specific to the xj900rk.

So what do you suggest I do to fix it. I am not going to pay $500.00 for one, so If I don't find one soon I will just part out the bike. I hate to do that as I have done alot of work to it. But no reason to keep throwing money at it.

It is cracked all around the fitting where the line connects to it. I took it to a radator shop and they said it isn't repairable.

tell you what...... I'm going to do a visual comparison between the one on my RK, and a 650 set that I have and see what the actual difference is. Give me a day or two to do that. If it's dramatic, that's one thing. If it's really close to the same, I'll work with with you. Let's take this to PM's from here on.....

I'd hate to see you part it out (unless all the good parts come to me) <G>

If the adapter plate fits the engine, anyone can mount an oil cooler to any motor to lower operating temps. I personally have added oil coolers to many many different motors/bikes anywhere from 70cc to my now XJ 1196 motor. In my honest opinion, they are like insurance just good preventative add-ons. Hell the minis I restore run hotter than some of these largers cc bikes and reducing the temp is a good thing.

Let me know if I can help.

looking at them side by side:

The hoses are completely different in length, shape and material
The coolers are completely different in size and shape

I do want to take a look at one of my other bikes and see how that one compares. I'll report on that as soon as I can.
