I've recently acquired an '82 XJ60 Maxim (Got tired of dropping a mortgage payment on gas every month) and I've been searching high and low for a few things.

1st. I'd like to find a quick-connect sissy bar... or stock one... Everywhere I look has options for Yamaha parts only going back as far as 84 and nothing for the XJ650.

2od. I work and go to school full time and would like to entertain the idea of saddle bags in lieu of tossing my back-pack on... (gets hot on a long haul) So I guess I need to know if there is a good brand, and any specific size issues I should know about? I've thought about removing the rear turn signals and getting an all in one unit for the brake/turn signals to make room for the bags (and still leave foot room for a passenger) but I didn't know if that was necessary.

Any suggestions would be awesome - so Thanks! in advance!

Wow does that bike look clean and well cared for. The PO did some serious paint and or powdercoating work on her.
The Seca I picked up last month had the same garbage foam handgrips. That would be the only thing I'd change, they feel cheap.

The bike was restored from frame up. Powder coated and painted... And although flames seem a bit too cliché to me - the bike serves it's purpose... (saving gas)

As to the foam grips... They don't only feel cheap... They feel nas-tacular when they get a bit damp... Nothing like fly'n down the highway going 70 mph while holding onto a set of sea cucumbers...

    -And thanks Skillet!

I'm not sure about a sissy bar but you could search ebay for a backrest. The same thing only with a padded backrest. If you have a good welding shop near you, you could have them fab something from the short one that wraps around the back of the seat.

I like the colors, especially the wheels. Post a wanted ad in the wanted/for sale forum and watch ebay religously.
