just bought a 1982 maxim 750, 22k original miles, runs great but idles high (have to find out where the main idle adjustment screw is) here's the only pic I have right now, will take more tomorrow...

as you might be able to tell it's got a weird handlebar setup, looks like they are made out of aluminum or something,,,, it's these kind of bars which I borrowed a pic from the forums here so you know what I am talking about...

so, question is, how do I go about changing it so I can put a drag style or similar style bars on it? any links to parts etc? also any info on the idle adjustment screw location and such would be helpful!

thanks in advance, and I will search around as well on here.

*EDIT* here is a link to the lil build thread I have started.

Just repositioning the bars have made them much better!

The idle adjustment knob is the large knob in the center of the four carbs on the back side of the rack. Counterclockwise=lower.

For the bars you could fit a Seca 750 top yoke, they have proper bar mounts on them. I think it’s a straight swap but you might what to ask some one just to be safe.

    Hope that helps

thanks for the info, got the idle right now (thanks tskaz), now I am looking for the stuff to change the bars up top, hopefully someone has some stuff laying around! Posted in the wanted section! I tried to readjust the bars on there now, took the nuts of the bolts coming from the bottom of the bars but they would not budge... also took out the bolts on the top section of the bars but they wouldn't budge either. I saw they were in (the top section of the bars) with teeth so I thought I could just push them out and readjust but no joy thusfar,,, maybe I need to spray it all down with pb blaster!
