I have an 82 maxim 750 I'm wanting know if I can use the rear wheel of a chain drive for a front wheel. My real question is there wheel that will bolt up without that big picse of metal to full up the drum?

What is it you're trying to do? Are you wanting a 16" front?

Maximum. Yeah I want a 16 in or at most a 17in. But I don't want the rear one like the one at that link , I just don't want the hub cover. But I also want like a 130 size tire.

There are some options. I put a Fazer front wheel on my X with a 130/90-16. There're a couple pics in my gallery....

Exactly what I want. Did it take a lotta modification to get it on?

Modification? Little to none. The most work was deciding to buy the wheel and hoping it would fit.

The Fazer rim fits right into the stock fork. The only thing I had to do was add some washers to space-in the calipers and get longer bolts and create spacers for the fender. Mind you, my fender's different from yours.

    There's a little write-up on the swap here: http://maxim-x.com/front_wheel_mod.html

I also had to bend my sidestand to give me enough lean to feel comfortable, but I've also lowered the rear-end with shorter shocks.

There is a guy making adapter plates to put a rear 16" on the front complete with brake mount and plate for the drum side. I'm sure if you dig around here you'll find it, I believe it's a Virago he's done it with, which have the same wheel. the search function is your friend.
