I got a set of 2003 wide glide hand controls that I want to use in my project.

I want to keep the triple tree clamp/ riser.

there is a handlebar thickness difference for each.

Can I get a handlebar that is what?, 7/8'(unsure of size in mm) that would taper up to fit the HD controls?

    Thank you!

None that I'm aware of. The Yamahas use a standard 7/8" bar; as you know the Harleys run a 1" bar.

I've never seen a 7/8" bar that tapered to a 1" bar at the ends.

Maybe find 1" od tube with 1/16 wall slide it over then ends of your 7/8" bars, weld on and then use the harley controls. The tube could fit just under the controls.

good idea! i might have to go to that.

Suppose ther is a 7/8" "adaptor" for the riser that would increase the size of the existing "clamps" to 2"??

The clamps could probably be machined out.

I don't believe the hole is actually the diameter of the bars or they would turn inside and not tighten down.

I would not machine out the clamps to 1" That would make them pretty thin.

What I would look into is getting the bar you want in 1" then have welded to it a 7/8" riser that would bolt into the stock clamps. I looked into this when I was thinking of taking controls off a Yamaha V-star. Would look pretty sweet to have a 1" straight bar on a Maxim :)

    You need something like this
    [IMG]
    http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/4/ ... =SLIsearch

This converts your 7/8" riser to a 1 1/8" riser....and gives you a 3/4" rise in addition (which you will want with a straight drag bar...)
    ....I found that with a quick google search...maybe someone makes a 7/8 to 1" unit ...
