I'm new to the forum as well as the XJ750 Maxim. So far so good. I picked up my Maxim a few weeks ago from a guy in St Louis. With a few adjustments it runs great and is super fun to ride. I'll post pictures as soon as I figure out how!

DeMentedToys, I had the same problem... I did, however, notice that my file size was "too big" after giving up...

What I decided to do, just to keep it simple, was to upload to another site and just "/img" link the pics here...

    I like Picaso and Flickr

    Still working on uploading pictures.

I got the forward controls and linkage fabricated and installed last night. Not too shabby!

Seems like 82 maxies 750's are all the rage, I bought one for $400 and will soon undertake a resto job on it.

I'm 6'2" so forward controls were a must do. I got them installed last week.

Here's a suggestion...(If up shifting is uncomfortable) change the position of the shift lever where it goes into the tranny 180 degrees; This will change your shift pattern from one down four up to the opposite of one up and four down. who knows, you might like it.

While it's true that it would reverse the shift pattern, you will still have the same number of both up and downward shifts. I don't see this as being helpful. For instance when you shift down to progress through the gears you still have to shift up to go back down.... I think someone thought they were really on to something with this modification when really, not so much. Unless they just prefer a reversed shoot pattern, or maybe they never downshift properly when slowing to a stop. Thanks for the input though. :)

If you are a youngster then you may not have the problem an old geezer like me has... weak shin muscles; for me up shifting with that setup would give me fits. The only way for me to use it would for it to have a heel shift feature.

I had an issue with not having any storage on my motor bike. I'm in the military, we use MOLLE webbing on most if our gear to attach pouches and other gear. I made a MOLLE gas tank cover for my XJ750. I think it looks coil and it's functional.
