Ran across this over @ Custom Fighters......

Based around a XS triple but food for thought if yer thinking about going down that road. Details should be not far different with a XJ......

Not cafe, but streetfighter. Looks alright for what it is, but too "youthful" for my tastes.

that rockstar can can is slick, though I dont think the graphics would last too long, but a replacement would cost $3, pretty brilliant.

Pollock's absolutely right. That U-joint won't last long at that steep angle. That's why I kept from raising the rear on my cafe Maxim any more than 1" from stock. Only other way is either through some frame mod trickery or a larger rear rim and tire combo, that I can see, but you do NOT wanna throw your shaft angle off like that.

Hard to tell about the shaft angle without anyone sitting on it! The mono-shock is all the way out till some weight is applied right?

It'd be a three-way race between one's spine, the u-joint and the motor itself with no air filtration whatsoever.

Even with someone on it, that u-joint is gonna see way more angle variation than it was ever designed for. Be interesting to see what breaks first.

    Looks cool, though.

My 11 year old son put a Venom Energy drink can/bottle on the exhaust of his 70 dirt bike and I thought it was cool. Guess he was really on to something.

as I was drifting off to sleep I too had that poor uJoint haunting me... Mayhaps a pair (or more?) of Ujoints stacked in series. If you have two and clock them correctly it's significantly easier on splines. That's a beemer thing...
I guess a proper thing to do is machine bits for the output to be put out at proper angle.

The look and style are giving me all kinds of food for thought on the XS400R's I've got sitting out back waiting for my attention.

We have a kid at the shop that jacked his jeep up with simple spring over axle and just couldn't wrap his head around why his driveline took a dump in the first 400 miles.
