I recently purchased a 1982 Maxim 650 and I love it. This is my first bike. I am very tall (6'7") and this bike fits me really well. I am from Central Illinois and like reading the forums here.

WELCOME from TN!!! Nice lookin' bike. Need to check rear brakes for delamination. If you haven't got one get an owners manual and stay on top of maintenance...

BTW glad it fits so well. I know how hard it is sometimes being taller than average (6'4")...

Welcome from Michigan, nice looking bike you have there, I'm 6'2" and when I found my 81'XJ 750 Seca it was one of the first bikes that I sat on in awhile where it fit my long legs. Most of the new bikes my legs are so far up in the air that I don't feel the balance of the machine properly. My Seca just seems to fit fine. Best of Luck with your bike-your in the right place for sure here :)))) grunt007

Nice bike, exactly like mine (except mine is red).....I love it too, don't think I'll ever get rid of this one. You can't beat the $1,000 you pay for these bikes. I still like Yamaha's original slogan....something like......"Trying to decide between looks and performance......Don't....MAXIM!"

We will be taking the kids to grandmas so we won't be able to ride the bike. In high school I was best friends with Justin Grimm. His dad owns or owned Grimm Propane. Haven't talked to him in the last 5 years or so at least.

I find it somewhat odd that you say the bike fits you at 6'7"; I owned the exact same model and at 6'2" I had to scoot back on the seat. Are you really tall but have short legs?LOL

yeah I agree with that, I'm 6'1" and scoot back on the seat quite a bit as well. But hey whatever, comfort is comfort. I wonder how comfortable he would be with say an extra inch or two on the back shocks?
