Stock rear shocks and springs

    My rear shocks are the original showa shocks and I was wondering if there was anyways to remove them, take the spring from the shock portions clean and repaint then reassemble.

    Yes.

    With bike on centerstand, remove the shocks, then either take them to your local bike shop & pay a few $ to have them disassembled, or build your own shock compressor tool

    You would probable be bettor of just replacing the shocks altogether, as the originals are very old and are probably not at there best.

    Another DIY solution -- although these are only about $50 to buy, you could probably put one together for about $10 in parts....

    I used a ratchet strap, works fine just make sure it doesn't slip!!!! ;P

    ok well thanks for the ideas... they have a rental tool at autozone looks like it may work but I just wasn't sure how they came apart. Thanks again
