A buddy of mine just picked up an 82 xj750 maxim (partly b/c he was impressed w/ the amount of help on this site,,, partly b/c it was cheap as sin) The bike needs some good TLC, but one of the things that I'm not sure about is the Instrument Cluster.

The warning light flashes, and the Battery bar is lit up, till you "reset" the button... The battery, however, is new. I know that he needs to check the levels in the battery, as well as the charge level, but if those come up clean, what's the next step?
    :?:

Pic ganked from Ebay... This is the type he has.

It's likely his new battery doesn't have a fluid level sensor connected. It's not a problem. There's threads on here that detail how to eliminate the "battery" on the bar. I live with mine and I keep a close eye on my battery fluid level, especially in the warm weather. Tap the "Warning Control" button twice after the initial rundown to turn off flashing warning light.

Same problem I had -- there's always this to rectify the situation.
