I have been to Home Despot & tried two of their pricier electric staplers thinking it would staple the new vinyl to the plastic seat. Nope, no way. I suppose one of the pneumatic staplers ought to work but I have no compressor so I need to do it otherwise. I need a stapler like my Dad used to own 40 years ago, it was spring loaded and would shoot a staple 30 feet.

The plastic on these seats isn't very thick, just too thick for these China made staplers to do the job.

Anyone have a solution other than take it to an upholsterer?

I used an old stapler, spring loaded, and an occasional staple won't drive in right. Just pull it and try again. New ones are $10 at Home Repo, most likely made in China. Mine came from a yard sale for a buck.

Honestly, zero of the staples went into the plastic with the two electrics I got at HD.

I'll try their biggest spring version. And yeah, the old one Dad had was choice.

i used a spring loaded on also. i tried an electric and bent the piece that pushes the spale trying to make it work. keep the spring stapler firm against the seat pan and you should be good. remember to use short staples so they dont poke thru the shallow sections.

My newish arrow t50 wouldn't drive a single staple in so I bought one for $2 at a garage sale from an old guy down the street and it worked great, same model but older, go figure.

Most any staple gun will work, just be sure you use 1/4 long staples. Anything longer WILL make holes in your new seat.

I got it done. Couldn't find any medium or light duty T50 staples. I think the diameter of the staples is too much a load for the standard T50 staples. I did though find an "Arrow T50 "red" stapler which claims to have 40% more power. It did the trick but it's a heck of a workout (tough to squeeze) and the stapler does jam but... it was the only stapler that would go through the plastic on my seat.

Done... & it looks good too.

I went to the auto reupholster today before finding this stapler & asked how much to just staple the seat & he wanted $100. No way... Better to buy this $29 stapler & have a tool to show for the money and... a reupholstered seat. :)
