Now that the bike is on the road and going ......my wife thinks I should be riding it ALL the time. Hell she's even making up errands for me to run as long as I take the bike!

I think shes getting rid of me.
She wont ride on the bike, she leans the wrong way in the turns!!!! She figures if you go through all the trouble and expense of getting it on the road you better be riding it a lot.

She has a point at least that is how I see it! If you spend all that time and money to get a 30 year old bike running you should ride it and enjoy the fruits of your labor!

I have one rule the bike is NOT a grocery getter!!!!!! You’re lucky when I want to go a trip the guilt trip starts from her.

    Take her shopping.
    Buy her a nice Helmet.
Pick-up a used ChatterBox set-up so you don't have to yell.
Take her out for a cup-of-coffee.
75 ~ 80 miles away, ... in some quaint little village.

You wife WANTS you to ride your bike. I seriously fail to see the problem in THAT! I say give the woman what she wants!

I will say this, since my bike's been on the road, and my wife has seen how much money that has been saved in gas, she's all for the bike in good weather. She still worries about me and whines at me if there's the slightest chance of rain, and calls me more frequently when I'm out with it, but all in all, she's pretty good about it.

My wife wants me to ride a lot too. I think it's because she knows my bikes are my only mistresses.

    Well said!

I have this problem too. Took all summer to convince my wife of the gas savings, and the frequent add-ons don't help. Then I got saddlebags when I was gearing up for a long trip. When she saw what could fit in them, I def became the grocery gitter.

But I'll take any eff'n reason to ride!

I call mine Babylon for that reason. AKA, the great whore (can I say that?). My wife says if I put as much maintenance in our marriage as the bike we would be an amazing couple. She jokes of course. Our toddler takes most of our maintenance time.

Ya my kids are all grown and gone on there own. Both in the service. Now I'm retired and bored, thats why I got back into bikes. When I'm working on the bike the wife comes out to help me. She doesn't like it when I'm by myself in the garage. But she does make a hasty retreat back to the house when I'm working on my old Suzuki. The only time she ever hears me swear is when I'm working on that pig.

the only time I do NOT swear and wrench is this bike. the other vehicles around here have inspired the creation of new swear words and combos of the widley known ones never yet imagined. At one time (long ago) a water pump change required a can of bondo

You find one who believes that a HAPPY man is one who stays home and dosen't roam. Also I don't complain about her shopping trips, and I help her out in the yard, so it all works out. I have to get a another bike to work on in the spring.

    A little off topic:
One of the guys at my new job was sat at the lunch table and was talking about his car.
He took it to a mechanic and said that his car makes this irritating noise every time he drives it and it's been going on for about two months.
So, the mechanic takes it out for a test drive, comes back and says he didn't here anything at all when he drove the car.
Before the guy had a chance to say anything else, I jumped in and said, "what did you do, leave your wife at home"!!!

Well, all the other guys laughed.
