    Here's a comparison article, stating "a little past 5,000 at 62 MPH"

You could calculate using tire size and gearing, as both speedos and tachs are inacurrate, and you would be doubling your error, or even tripling it when asking someone's actual observation. Assume at least a 2% error. My Seca 900 speedo has a 9% error.

If you measure your exact tire circumference, I'll work it out for you.
The "diff" has a 2.909:1 ratio , and I can look up the other gearsets tooth count and Bob's your Uncle. 8)

thanks for the response! what you offer helps!
if i could just get a couple folks to chime in on what their orig tach reads at 75, 70, 65...any of those, i'd have a baseline. i understand margin of error, i'm just trying to fine tune an aftermarket gauge to the original gauge readings, whatever they may be.
i'm pretty sure somebody has driven their bike this weekend at 65mph or above and i'm asking that they post it.
    thanks again.....

On my bike, My tacho shows 5500rpm @ 75mph in 5th gear with a 130/80-18 rear tire.... Hope this helps

thanks for posting that info! i appreciate you taking the time to help me out. unfortunately, your bike rear tire is larger (18" vs 16") than original specs which affects the tach reading.
still waiting for someone w/stock tire sizes and gauge to post.....
