Mine are shot and the local bike parts store can only get ones for an '85 maxim 700. Are they the same size? What size are mine?

PM Chacal. Not only can he tell you the size he probably has them in stock. Check his catalog, link in upper right XJ4EVER.

Yes, they are the same size.
The only significant difference between the two bikes is a slightly longer stroke to the piston (to give you the extra 50cc)....and your speedo has the wrong units on it :)

And a couple other little things (it came equiped with snow tires)

But seriously, Chacal has awesome service and prices so he will hook you up.

Mike, you sure about that? He has a 550; the 550s have 35mm forks. I thought the 700s had bigger forks.

Check with chacal (XJ4Ever) to be sure.

I think you'll find that Mike is going with the Topic name, the same as I was, which is asking about 750 fork seals, and not the info in his sig

Yes....I simply read the title and the other text BUT the signature says different.

I assume that since he typed '85 twice, that was the model he was discussing.

If not, the 550 is different I'm pretty sure.
