Hey guys not sure if anyone remembers me.

    I had a SECA 650RJ, a Maxim 650, and now am on a SECA 750.

From what I remember, they made an R model, with the dual front disc brakes, is this correct?

I have yet to find the VIN. It is at a friends house and I am still working 80 hours a week...

I found a parts bike for $100. Picking it up this week. He said he rode it a few seasons, then the starter went, and he starting prepping it to part it out for ebay. He was going to use that money towards a new bike. He also said the ignition was flaky. For $100 I figure it's a steal.

All I need for now is to do a general go-through on the carbs (I know I know, skimp there and it'll bite me in the ass, but it's running pretty good aside from the idle.)
Then do an oil change (did one a first one w/o replacing filter, and that NEEDS to be done, as well as the sump I believe!)
Then I need to snag the fuse box out of the parts bike since this one is nonexistant, and do my fuse holder from radio shack mod I did on the Maxim.

So basically, any way to narrow down what year this might be? I read somewhere when I first got it 4 months ago that the dual disc was only on the R model, but when I look up 750R I can't find anything.
Oh, and my dash seems to be twisted to the left, and it tracks straight and the bars seem straight, is there an adjustment or is it possibly broken? Maybe the parts bike with have a better front end :) But I do like the superbars on this bike!

I remember you well. The dual discs might be a factory option.
Shoot Chacal a pm with the vin number & Len has all that info & his parts are the best & good value.

    R means Seca. No R means Maxim. e.g. XJ750RJ.

    RH = 1981 Seca, RJ = 1982 Seca, RK = 1983 Seca

All 750 Secas have dual front disc brakes.

Thanks for the info. I know the VIN info is on here I just don't have it and my lazy friend won't look for it lol.

From both of your input, I remember what I read now. A few months ago I saw something say "The dual discs were an option at the dealer, and only available on the SECA R"

Whether that's all true or not, that's what led me to believe there was a 750R model.

Now I just gotta get him to find my VIN! lol.

BTW - HI WIZ! haha. And SQL guy, how's the microsquirt rig going? Last I knew you still weren't finalized with it?

DUDE! Whassup??? Long time no modulate.

Sorry to say, "R" just means "Seca." The 650 and 750 Secas had dual discs, it wasn't an "option." They came that way.

Back in the day, the only real "options" for the XJs were the TourPak for the 750, turning it into a sport-tourer, a similar package for the big Maxims; and an assortment of crash guards, luggage racks, windshields and mini-windshields for the rest of the bikes.

    Somebody was yanking your chain.

Yeah go figure on the R thing. It woulda been cool to get some badges for it that say SECA 750R lol.

Hoping to get the parts bike this week, go from there. Need to get riding before it's too cold!

These came on the '82 and '83 550s (on the front of the instrument cluster) they need to be other places too. Plus the 750s have gold badges, don't they? (gotta troll eBay, they're "unobtainium." I think I got the last two new ones in the world three years ago.) You might find a spot for one or two...

Yes they are gold. Wouldn't it be fantastic if my parts bike had all the emblems? =D We shall see Friday!
