    Hi,
I'm looking for 2 chain adjusters for my 82 550 Maxim. Somewhat clean is preferred, but not all rusty!

Just PM me, I check in here every evening.

    Thanks!

Lower 48 in general. Otherwise Central Mitten.
Look back a page or two in this section. There are a couple 550's getting parted out.

FYI: Used on all 81-83 550 Maxim & Seca. Still available OEM.

If you're talking about the bolts on both sides thhat you move in and out to adjust tension, you can actually replace them with the same size metric bolts, and just grind the tip down to a rounded shape

Cross threaded! I suspect the nut was over torqued.

I fixed mine by drilling out the holes a little bit, welding a nut on the inside of the adjuster, and using the same size bolts and nuts ( total of four nuts, one welded into each side of the adjuster, and of course your locker nut on the outside.) Very simple and effective fix. Don't forget to round the end of the bolt down to fit in the divot, then clean the threads so it goes in easy

Not yet. A board memeber here has a couple used ones. If not, this is my backup plan. It sounds like it would work fine.

I have one lying around that's in good shape if you still need - other was bent so I just replaced both with NOS.

Will send both if you want to cover shipping?
