Thank you very much. Think I'll make the drive after work today.

Lower 48 in general. Otherwise Central Mitten.
    Looks to be a Venture 1200 XVZ12TK, or Venture Royal 1200 XVZ12TDK
V4 - 1200cc. Considered by some to be a bit heavy, and cumbersome, but a good general touring bike.

Get some good picks, and measurements of the saddle bag guards for me. looking for a replacement for one of mine, and need the info.

Also very prone to second gear problems. I know - I had one. Nice stuff - cruise control, self cancelling sigs, air suspension, intergrated brakes, radio pack and good acceleration - which is why 2nd gear usually failed! The panniers also detached and became your suitcases.

If you plan to ride it make sure 2nd gear is good. It's a major pull the engine and split the case fix.

If the fairing halves, front fender and trunk are in good shape they're pretty much worth the $700.

Looks to be a 83 to 85 Venture. As the others have said, watch out for 2nd gear. I see some parts on there I want for mine. They are nice riding bikes, very comfortable on the open road.

Reminds me when I had an opportunity to pick up a 77 Goldwing for $600, shame I passed that one up....

The Venture shares the same basic engine with the V Max but with different jetting and slightly smaller carb bores. Also the Venture does not have the V-Boost assembly.

Venture and V-Max have similar engines. Venture has about 95hp, V-Max around 140. So tell me why my V-Max gets better gas mileage, 5 mpg better. I ride the Max lots harder than the Venture.

Just a guess but is it a horsepower to weight thing?

Your V-max doesn't have to push that huge fairing through the wind.

I just got my Venture back on the road. It is a little heavy at slow speeds but I still enjoy riding it. At $700 and if it runs good you almost can't pass that up.
