I've got a XJ650 turbo that needs some work on the body kit..

I have been thinking about how to get my bike on the road whilst fixing up the plastics, i had a thought about using another XJ tank, seat and plastics.. as there is a full set on ebay at the moment, i wonder if anyone knows if the XJ550 complete set would fit on a XJ650LJ turbo?

    Nope.

The 550s are pretty much unique unto themselves.

Rob, the turbos are unique to themselves as well. You may as well pull the fairings, do the repairs or buy replacements on ebay.....my guess is that a full set bought piecemeal from different sellers will cost you 7-8 hundred...or fix yours and spray them. Doing a nice paint job is easier then you think....they sell a 2 part primer in a spray can, followed by your base coat then finished with a 2 part clearcoat, also available in a spray can....paint will run 100 bucks....but you have some repairs to do first then sand it until every single blemish is gone.....

It has the correct exhaust, wheels, brakes, etc. for a turbo. I suspect somebody took a turbo and pulled all the plastics off, substituting them with "naturally aspirated" 650 Seca tins.

I suspect it's not so much a conversion but a clever facelift.
