Got to make sure they have the same primary resistance as your original system or they may not fire or cause your TCI unit heartburn. Check spec's on your original and ohm out the new ones. If primary and secondary tolerances are the same, your in luck! Happy hunting and where can I find nice friends like yours?

    the Yamaha manual for a xj650g states primary coil resistance at 2.5 ohms +/- 10% @ 20 C ( 68 F ) and the secondary coil resistance at 11k ohm +/- 20% @ 20 C ( 68 F )

Most replacements (Accel / Dyna) have the resistance for our bikes as 3 ohm, secondary somewhere around 11k ohm. Many have done the swap - no problems with the TCI / CDI

Thanks guys. Always nice to have a group consensus. Do your new coils meet these requirements xj650rjseca? Hope so! Check out your old ones too, they might be salvageable as well. Check the other links for tips on this possibility. Good luck to you!

xj650rjseca, primary means first or in this case the 12 volt side, and secondary is the high voltage going to the spark plugs.

By the way did you check back at the postings you were inquiring on your avitar? I've left a couple of choices there for you!

Do you have a USA spec bike? Believe me, they start a LOT easier when you can turn off the headlight, which a lot of US bikes wont let you do w/o a simple mod.....

The CrossRef Utility doesn't list FJ 1000 as a good donor for ignition coils for your bike. I see XJ, XS and YX (Radian) bikes but no FJ :(.
